Was working overtime today but after getting a text from Wendy(windblows) saying it was 14-17knts wnw & the sun was shinning decided to leave work at 2pm which would give me time for the drive from melksham to wsm via home.Quickly checked the station via internet when i got home- 17-21knts wnw,& still sunny, lovely.
Got down at about 3.45pm with a few out & lots rigging, super quick riggin opted for short sleeve wetsuit as it aslmost felt like Summer! On by 3.55pm.
5.7 was perfect size, the wind very constant, was plenty of ramps about for jumping gybing etc.
Had a play off the end of the pier for for a while untill the waves died down(water getting to deep). Then headed with John up to Uphill end of wsm, where its shallower.Up this end loads of waves & largish swell out back to play on,but the wind was increasing as was really overpowered now but couldnt be bothered to change down (Should have really), instead cranked on loads of downhall which helped but still Opowered.
Out the back it was getting very Bumpy even on the swells, which combined with being sooo Opowered, made it quite hairy, having to bear off the wind loads in the air when jumping which made for super fast landings or end up spinning into wind. All good fun.
After a few Caltapult/swing round the front(very amateur) decided to call it a day.
An excellent day & hopefully a hint of things to come for the summer as wsm does do the summer/sea brezze thing qiute well...
Must have been 25/30 w/surfers & 10 kiters/roadblocks out! very busy..
